When developing S1000D stylesheets for Arbortext Editor, it is sometimes easy to forget the Author and to focus predominantly on the printed output. Yes, it is important to get a good quality PDF file for QA review, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of the Authoring experience.
With our S1000D Print & Publishing stylesheets taking care of the PDF output, we were able to spend the time looking at Arbortext Editor purely from an author’s point-of-view.
To help users understand the difference between "Standard S1000D" formatting and "ATA Spec 1000BR" formatting, we are including two images below. Both detail the same fault isolation procedure so the content is the same, but you will notice the layouts are completely different.

Our ATA Spec 1000BR_4.2 Authoring environment is based around S1000D Issue 4.2 but the layout has been customised to comply with the ATA CMP requirements.
